St. Louis CITY2 has announced the departure of midfielder Adeteye Gbadehan after reaching a mutual agreement to terminate his MLS NEXT Pro contract.
The 22-year-old midfielder originally joined the developmental side on March 13 of this year and made a swift entrance, taking the pitch for his club debut just two days later against Ventura County FC on March 15. Over the course of the campaign, Gbadehan served as a versatile rotation option in the squad’s midfield engine room, tallying 14 total appearances and earning six starts while logging 518 minutes of action.
Mutual contract terminations often reflect a tactical or career realignment that benefits both player and club. For Gbadehan, moving on opens up opportunities to seek more consistent first-team minutes elsewhere. For CITY2, the roster spot cleared by his exit grants management additional flexibility to evaluate emerging talent from the academy pipeline and adjust their squad composition down the stretch.
