The Big Throwdown with The Urge, Less Than Jake, and My Posse In Effect at Saint Louis Music Park (July 25, 2026) was a hometown hit!
The midwest summer heat didn’t stop people from having a night to remember at Saint Louis Music Park. Doors/pre-party kicked off early with 105.7 The Point, food trucks, and a solid warm up crowd.
My Posse In Effect (Beastie Boys tribute) got things rolling with high energy covers that had people moving right away.
Less Than Jake followed and did what they always do, pure ska-punk chaos. They ran through the classics such as “Johnny Quest Thinks We’re Sellouts,” “All My Best Friends Are Metalheads,” “Gainesville Rock City,” “The Science of Selling Yourself Short,” and more. Horns blasting, crowd dancing and jumping, zero downtime. They still bring it like it’s 1998.
Then The Urge took over as headliners and reminded everyone why they’re a St. Louis institution. Steve Ewing and the crew were locked in from the jump. They mixed deep cuts and favorites heavy on Receiving the Gift of Flavor and Too Much Stereo material and even debuted a new one called “Top Down.” The band sounded tight, the horns cut through clean, and the crowd knew every word on the big ones. It’s that perfect mix of ska, funk, punk, and rock that still feels uniquely theirs after all these years.
Overall the night was excellent. Good mix of longtime fans and newer faces, weather cooperated, sound was strong outdoors, and the whole night felt like a proper St. Louis throwdown. No weak links in the lineup. If you like energetic live music with horns, grooves, and zero pretension, this was exactly what you wanted on a summer Saturday. The Urge still delivers!
