Deep Purple have unleashed “Diablo,” the second single from their highly anticipated new studio album SPLAT!, set for release on July 3 via earMUSIC. The track features a special guest appearance from global superstar and Grammy-winning guitarist Keith Urban on second guitar, adding an extra layer of firepower to an already classic Purple rocker.

“Diablo” follows the album’s lead single “Arrogant Boy” and plunges listeners into one of the band’s surreal new story worlds: the most dangerous place on Earth. The song’s narrative follows a heroine who crosses a river, dives into a fighting pit, celebrates with a bucket of wine, takes a dip in the glitter pool, and somehow makes it home with one hell of a tale to tell. True to form, it’s built on a killer riff, infectious groove, and the unmistakable chemistry that has defined Deep Purple for decades.

The official music video for “Diablo” is a live performance piece premiering on earMUSIC’s YouTube channel this Sunday, June 7 at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT. Fans tuning in for the premiere will also have the chance to chat with bassist Roger Glover in the live chat.

Frontman Ian Gillan shared his thoughts on the track:

“It is all about taking chances. Just for once in your life, do something exciting, step out of the mold, take that curious bend in the road instead of sticking to the highway and do something that will, for the rest of your life, either guide or warn you.”

SPLAT! has already generated strong buzz. Early press has been glowing, with Uncut calling it “distilled, high-octane Purple at its finest” and Classic Rock praising it for delivering “everything that makes Deep Purple one of the greatest acts in hard rock.”

The band is gearing up for an massive world tour in support of the album, kicking off with European summer dates next week in Finland, followed by shows in Norway, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Italy. The SPLAT! World Tour will then head to North America as part of a staggering 86 shows across 28 countries. Tickets are on sale now via the band’s official website.

About Deep Purple

With over 120 million albums sold and decades of arena-filling performances, Deep Purple remain rock royalty. Named the “5th Most Influential Band Ever” by Planet Rock and inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, the band helped define hard rock while continuing to evolve. Their classic MKII lineup (Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord, Ritchie Blackmore) delivered timeless albums like Made in Japan, widely regarded as one of the greatest live records ever.

The current lineup—Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride—continues to push boundaries with renewed energy. Recent albums like Whoosh! (2020), inFinite (2017), and =1 (2024) were produced by Bob Ezrin (known for his work with Pink Floyd, KISS, and Alice Cooper). SPLAT! marks another exciting chapter in their seven-decade legacy.

Stay tuned for more as the SPLAT! World Tour approaches. In the meantime, crank up “Diablo” and get ready for one of the year’s most anticipated hard rock releases.
