James Handy, the prolific character actor known for memorable supporting roles in blockbuster films like Top Gun: Maverick, Jumanji, and Arachnophobia, died on June 3rd at the age of 81.
According to reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, Handy was found unconscious in the front yard of a residence in Tarzana with multiple stab wounds to the chest around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, on suspicion of murder. Gledhill reportedly flagged down officers and turned himself in. A 911 call included the cryptic statement, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
