The St. Louis Blues have secured one of their most promising young forwards for the long term, agreeing to terms with Dylan Holloway on a five-year contract extension worth $38.75 million with an annual average value of $7.75 million, the club announced Friday.

Holloway, 24, has emerged as a cornerstone of the Blues’ rebuild in remarkably short order. In just his second season with the organization, the Calgary native delivered a breakout campaign that underscored both his offensive upside and two-way reliability. He appeared in 59 games, ranking second on the team with 22 goals and sharing second in points with 51. His production only accelerated after the Olympic break; over the final 25 games of the regular season, Holloway posted 34 points (seventh in the NHL) and 29 even-strength points (tied for second league-wide), while his plus-26 rating led the entire NHL.

Those numbers reflect a player who has rapidly grown into a top-line contributor. Across his two seasons in St. Louis, Holloway has compiled 114 points (48 goals, 66 assists) and a plus-34 rating in 136 regular-season games. That combination places him among an exclusive group — just 25 forwards league-wide have reached the 100-point, plus-30 plateau in the same span.

General Manager Doug Armstrong, who orchestrated the deal, has long viewed Holloway as a foundational piece. Originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round (14th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1, 203-pound winger joined the Blues as a free agent on Aug. 20, 2024. The move has paid immediate dividends. In 225 career NHL regular-season games, Holloway has recorded 132 points (57 goals, 75 assists) and 86 penalty minutes. He has also contributed seven points (five goals, two assists) in 26 postseason appearances, experience that could prove valuable as the Blues push for sustained contention.

The extension comes at a pivotal moment for both player and franchise. Holloway’s emergence has helped stabilize a forward group in transition, offering a blend of speed, physicality and finishing ability that has been difficult to find on the open market. At an AAV well below what many comparable young scorers have commanded recently, the deal represents strong value for a Blues team committed to blending youth with veteran leadership.

For Holloway, the contract is more than a financial reward — it is confirmation that the organization that bet on him sees him as a long-term difference-maker. With the ink now dry, the Blues enter the offseason knowing one of their brightest young talents is locked in through the prime years of his career.
