Canadian progressive thrash metal pioneers VOIVOD have thrilled fans by announcing a compact yet high-octane USA tour for March 2026, joined by Richmond’s metal-punk powerhouse BAT. This eight-date run promises to deliver the band’s signature blend of sci-fi infused riffs, complex rhythms, and unrelenting energy, kicking off just days from now as excitement builds.

Formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec, VOIVOD—originally consisting of vocalist Denis “Snake” Bélanger, guitarist Denis “Piggy” D’Amour, drummer Michel “Away” Langevin, and bassist Jean-Yves “Blacky” Thériault—quickly carved out a niche in the heavy metal scene. Drawing from influences like the new wave of British heavy metal, hardcore punk, and 1970s progressive rock, they developed a distinctive sound centered on themes of Cold War politics, post-apocalyptic scenarios, and science fiction. Over the decades, the band has released landmark albums such as Killing Technology (1987), Dimension Hatröss (1988), and Nothingface (1989), evolving from raw thrash to intricate progressive metal while maintaining a cult following. Despite the tragic loss of guitarist Piggy in 2005, VOIVOD persevered, recruiting Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain on guitar and later Dominic “Rocky” Laroche on bass, continuing to innovate with releases like Morgöth Tales (2023).

The tour, announced in December 2025, marks a “special short run” as described by the band: “We’re hitting the road for a special short run in the U.S. this March with our friends BAT. Eight nights, eight cities — see you in the pit!” Starting at the Hell’s Heroes Festival in Houston, the itinerary focuses on Midwestern and Southern cities, offering fans a rare chance to experience VOIVOD’s live prowess in intimate venues.

Here are the full tour dates and venues:

Date City, State Venue
March 20 Houston, TX White Oak Music Hall (Hell’s Heroes Festival)
March 21 Little Rock, AR The Rev Room
March 22 St. Louis, MO Red Flag

Supporting VOIVOD is BAT, a Virginia-based trio featuring Ryan Waste (guitar/vocals), Nick Poulos (bass), and Chris Marshall (drums). Known for their raw, speed-driven metal-punk sound, BAT brings a ferocious edge to the bill, perfectly complementing VOIVOD’s experimental style. The band has expressed enthusiasm for the joint venture, with plans for an afterparty in Tulsa to cap off the tour.

This tour comes amid a busy period for VOIVOD, who have hinted at new projects and additional dates in North America and Europe later in 2026. For metal enthusiasts, it’s a must-see event that underscores the band’s enduring legacy as innovators in the genre. Don’t miss your chance to witness these cosmic metal visionaries in action—grab tickets now and prepare for a pit-worthy experience.
