Alex Reyes Sent For MRI On Pitching Elbow

Following a physical this morning, Alex Reyes was not cleared to pitch and sent off for an MRI on his pitching elbow.

Some pitchers can continue to throw with partial tears of their UCL. Adam Wainwright lasted for about a half-decade before his fully tore.

That said, any UCL damage significant enough to warrant an MRI is bad, and Alex Reyes being a hard thrower doesn’t lend itself to optimism.

Jim Bowden, of ESPN says a source told him that Reyes has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and will get a second opinion, but season-ending Tommy John surgery is likely.
