Lily Cornell Silver, the eldest daughter of the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, has stepped into the spotlight as a musician with the release of her first two original songs through her band, Josie on the Rocks.

The tracks, titled “Not You” and “Super Sonic”, are now available on major streaming platforms, marking Silver’s official studio debut. Accompanying the release is a music video for “Not You,” which has been shared on YouTube.

Silver formed the band approximately five years ago, around 2021, describing the experience as “the happiest part of my life.” In a heartfelt Instagram post, she shared that the group consisted of “three of the most beautiful people and musicians I’ve ever known.” The band recorded the two songs and filmed the music video during that time, capturing a period of joy and creativity for Silver.

Tragically, the project was halted by the sudden death of their drummer, Graham (full name reported in some sources as Graham Derzon-Supplee). Silver reflected on the profound grief that followed, noting how the loss felt “senseless” just as the band was gaining momentum and she was overcoming personal fears to pursue music. She credited Graham with pushing her through those fears and encouraging her to start creating music in the first place.

For years, the recordings remained private, kept “mostly hidden from the world” amid the emotional weight of the tragedy. In recent months, however, Silver and her surviving bandmates felt ready to share the music. The release serves as a way to honor Graham’s memory and allow “a piece of Graham to live on” through the songs he helped bring to life.

Silver’s musical journey has been gradual and personal. She made her live debut in late 2020 with a poignant piano cover of Alice in Chains’ “Black Gives Way to Blue” during a tribute event honoring the band. These new releases represent her first foray into original recorded material.

While it’s unclear if Josie on the Rocks will continue producing new music or if these tracks stand alone as a tribute, the release has been met with positive attention from fans and music outlets, praising Silver’s voice and the band’s energy.

The songs and video are linked in Silver’s social media bio, offering listeners a glimpse into a project born from friendship, creativity, and resilience in the face of profound loss. This moment not only introduces her as an artist in her own right but also continues the legacy of musical expression tied to her father’s influential career.
