This limited-time transformation will take place on all 12 home Saturday games during the 2026 season, celebrating the region’s ubiquitous green iguanas and their infamous cold-weather “freezes.”
Iguanas have become an unmistakable part of the Jupiter landscape, spotted lounging in trees, scampering across golf courses, or sunning themselves in backyards. These invasive reptiles, originally from Central and South America, thrive in Florida’s subtropical climate. However, when temperatures dip below 50°F (and especially into the 30s or 40s), the cold-blooded creatures enter a state of torpor: they stiffen up, lose their grip, and sometimes tumble dramatically from branches. Despite appearances, the iguanas are unharmed—they simply “thaw” and revive once the sun warms them up again. This quirky event has made national headlines for years, with the National Weather Service even issuing informal “falling iguana” warnings during cold snaps.
The Frozen Iguanas uniforms lean into this theme with a fresh color scheme of icy blues and vibrant greens. Specially designed jerseys and hats will debut on the field, offering fans a fun, locally inspired twist on traditional Cardinals gear.
The team has partnered with IggyTrap, a South Florida-based company specializing in safe, humane, and eco-friendly iguana removal.
