Episode 7 of Dexter: Resurrection, titled “Course Correction,” picks up with Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) arriving via helicopter at a lavish castle rented by Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) for a serial killer retreat. Tensions are high as Charley (Uma Thurman) argues with Prater about the group’s exposure, but he dismisses her concerns. Over lunch, Prater announces Mia LaPierre’s (Krysten Ritter) alleged suicide, prompting a toast to “Lady Vengeance.” Dexter, skeptical of the suicide narrative, keeps his suspicions hidden while receiving a text from his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), about a college tour.
The group engages in a chilling “show and tell” session. Al (Eric Stonestreet), known as Rapunzel, shares a video of himself strangling a jogger and cutting off her ponytail, disgusting Dexter, who resolves to eliminate everyone in Prater’s circle. Urged by the vision of his father, Harry (James Remar), to be authentic, Dexter delivers a speech as “Red,” blending truth with fiction. He speaks about the mask he wears to hide his Dark Passenger, resonating with Al and Prater but raising suspicion from Gareth (David Dastmalchian), the surviving Gemini Killer twin, who notes Dexter’s lack of kill details.
In a private conversation, Prater praises Dexter’s vulnerability and shares his own backstory. As a child, he survived a car crash that killed his parents, orchestrated by a drunk driver, Cooper Morris. Prater wrote to Morris in prison, learning the crash was intentional. Over time, he bonded with Morris, who confessed to prior murders, sparking Prater’s fascination with collecting serial killers and their trophies. This connection explains his current obsession, and Dexter’s honesty reminds him of Morris.
Dexter confronts Gareth, revealing he knows about his twin and admitting to killing Gareth’s brother. Enraged, Gareth attacks with a broken wine glass, slashing Dexter’s arm. Dexter retaliates, killing Gareth by stabbing him in the neck in front of Prater, Al, and Charley, framing it as self-defense. He spins a story that Gareth planned to kill Lowell, Al, and himself to prove his superiority, solving the mystery of Lowell’s disappearance. While Prater and Al accept the explanation, Charley remains skeptical.
Back in New York, Angel Batista (David Zayas) presses Detectives Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf) and Melvin Oliva (Dominic Fumusa) to investigate Mia’s death, pointing out her fingerprints were absent from a watch linked to Ryan Foster’s murder. Using DMV records, Batista tracks Dexter to Blessing Kamara’s (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) apartment, where he poses as an old friend. Later, Dexter finds Batista salsa dancing with Blessing’s family. In a tense car ride, Dexter warns Batista to stay away from him and Harrison, hinting at danger if Batista persists. Unfazed, Batista accuses Dexter of past murders (Maria, Doakes, Deb) and plants a tracker in Dexter’s car before exiting, escalating their cat-and-mouse game.
Dexter, late for Harrison’s college tour at Collings College of Criminology due to the retreat, arrives to find Harrison bonding with tour guide Gigi (Emily Kimball). During a forensic psychology lecture by Wallace on the New York Ripper, Dexter and Harrison exchange uneasy glances. Wallace describes the Ripper’s gruesome kills and taunting voicemails, unsettling Dexter. Post-lecture, Dexter reassures Harrison that his feelings for him are unique, despite Wallace’s claim that psychopaths lack empathy. Harrison reveals his desire to become a cop, inspired by Dexter, not his grandfather or aunt. Dexter deflectstarters Dexter discredits Batista’s theories about him to Wallace, showcasing his blood spatter expertise, which raises her suspicions. Harrison gets Gigi’s number, hinting at a budding romance.
Dexter adds Gareth’s blood slide to his collection, savoring the kill, but the episode ends with Batista’s tracker (airpods) in his car, signaling that Dexter’s carefully constructed facade is crumbling. “Course Correction” is a high-stakes episode, blending Dexter’s calculated kills with emotional father-son moments and Batista’s relentless pursuit, setting the stage for an intense showdown.
