On July 18, 2025, the British rock band Bush unveiled their tenth studio album, I Beat Loneliness, through earMUSIC, marking a significant chapter in their over three-decade-long career. Known for defining the alternative rock scene in the 1990s with their seminal debut Sixteen Stone, Bush continues to evolve, blending their signature grunge-infused sound with modern textures. This latest release, produced by frontman Gavin Rossdale and Erik Ron, has been hailed as one of the band’s most emotionally resonant works, tackling themes of mental health, isolation, and personal transformation.

Formed in London in 1992, Bush—led by Gavin Rossdale (vocals, guitar), alongside Chris Traynor (guitar), Corey Britz (bass), and Nik Hughes (drums)—rose to prominence with Sixteen Stone (1994), which featured iconic tracks like “Glycerine,” “Comedown,” and “Machinehead.” With over 24 million records sold and 1.1 billion streams, the band has remained a vital force in rock music. Their previous album, The Art of Survival (2022), addressed global issues like climate change and human rights, setting the stage for the introspective focus of I Beat Loneliness.

The album was announced by Rossdale on September 2, 2024, with the title and release date confirmed on January 2, 2025. Produced by Rossdale and Erik Ron, known for his work with Godsmack and Bad Omens, the record fuses Bush’s classic post-grunge sound with electronic elements and modern production techniques.

The album’s lead single, “60 Ways to Forget People,” released on April 17, 2025, is described by Rossdale as “an ode to sacrifice and a dedication to the focus it takes to be better” (Loudwire). The track builds from a slow burn to a powerful roar, addressing heartbreak and self-reflection. The second single, “The Land of Milk and Honey,” released on June 5, 2025, is a “wild ride” meant to be played loud, embodying the album’s uplifting spirit (Rock Cellar Magazine).

Rossdale has emphasized the album’s personal nature, inspired by his own experiences, including the loss of his mother. In an interview with Noise11.com, he stated, “I really wanted to make something that was the most authentic record possible. I thought the most authentic I could be was to be the most deepest, honest, open version of myself” (Noise11.com). The album explores universal struggles, offering listeners a “playbook of survival and resilience” (Clash Magazine).

The band is currently on a North American tour with Shinedown, bringing the new tracks to life on stage. A European tour with Volbeat is scheduled to begin in September 2025, further amplifying the album’s reach (Soundsphere Magazine).

In interviews, Rossdale has shared insights into the album’s creation and its significance. Speaking to Baltimore’s 98 Rock, he described I Beat Loneliness as a “snapshot of my life,” reflecting on his journey from the open-ended optimism of his early career to a more grounded perspective (Blabbermouth). He told The Music, “I feel like it’s hit a nerve,” emphasizing the album’s role in connecting with fans facing their own struggles (The Music).

Rossdale’s passion for music remains evident. In a Loudwire interview, he expressed his drive to create vital music, inspired by both his peers and his desire to improve the silence (Loudwire). His commitment to authenticity and emotional honesty underscores the album’s impact.

I Beat Loneliness is available on multiple formats, including CD, heavyweight black 2LP gatefold, and digital platforms (Amazon).
