Everclear, the iconic ‘90s alternative rock band fronted by Art Alexakis, will perform at The Family Arena in St. Charles on Friday, September 26, as part of their Sparkle and Fade 30th Anniversary Tour. Released in 1995, Sparkle and Fade, Everclear’s platinum-selling debut on a major label, skyrocketed the band to fame with the chart-topping hit “Santa Monica,” alongside fan favorites like “Heroin Girl” and “Heartspark Dollarsign.” Hailed as “explosive, soul-searching, belligerent” by The Rolling Stone Album Guide and a “must-have for pop-punk fans” by Punknews, the album remains a cornerstone of ‘90s rock.

Since their formation in 1992, Everclear has released 11 studio albums, with four certified Gold or Platinum, sold over 6 million records, and notched 12 Top 40 hits, including “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Wonderful,” and “Everything To Everyone.” Their 1993 debut, World of Noise, led to a Capitol Records deal, and in 2022, Everclear celebrated their 30th anniversary with a remastered deluxe edition of the album and a retrospective video hosted by Matt Pinfield. In 2023, they dropped their first live album, Live at The Whisky a Go Go, and in 2024, Songs From An American Movie Vol. One was released on vinyl for the first time.
Beyond Everclear, Alexakis released his solo album Sun Songs in 2019 and has been open about his multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis, donating $1 per ticket to charities like Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and National MS Society. Featured in PEOPLE Health (Winter/Spring 2025), the 63-year-old shares his optimism, referencing the Sparkle and Fade deep cut “Strawberry” as a song of hope: “Don’t fall down, you’ll never get up.”
