“This album is a wild ride through the challenges that come around in our daily lives and our ways of coping or grounding ourselves,” says bassist Craig Fort of Omaha, NE based post rock band LEAFBLOWER about their new album BURN CRUISE, which is released today, June 13th, 2025viaMax Trax Records. Fort continues, “From the opening of the album when we turn the key, until we’re relaxing on the front porch after all the chaos, Burn Cruise is a complicated adventure through the struggles and roadblocks of our lives, and our ways of coping with what we are dealt while trying to make the best of it and enjoy the ride.”
“Burn Cruise explores themes of inner personal reflection, aligning with the overarching focus of the album, ”explains lead singer Danny Maxwell about the album’s themes of navigating the challenges of modern life and the importance of mental resets. “The lyrics were written during a time of deep introspection, drawing from my own personal experiences as well as the stories I observed around me. My aim on this record was to shift the focus, moving away from the external and delving into a more inward exploration of my thoughts and emotions.”

Kicking off the album with the epic “Long Night” and its fierce rhythm section intro that launches into thick, aggressive, and searing guitar solos, Burn Cruise makes a powerful entrance. Pulling in hardcore elements into “Namaste Home,” it’s a heavy record with an important message, expunging negative vibes and replacing them with resilience and positivity. The title track (and second single released from the album) carries forth the message of tackling anxiety head-on. “It’s a chance for you to clear your head and get positive, regardless of what you are dealing with,” explains Fort. “In the end, work still needs to be done and life goes forward.” First single “Unsatisfied” examines the idea of breaking the cycle of internal adversity and finding a healthy escape.
Produced by Ian Aeillo at A Sun Room, Leafblower shed some of their psych rock textures for a more nuanced roots and dives headfirst into the exploration of a fuzzy, post-rock landside structure. Fort adds, “The sonic landscape of the room engulfs you into the songs as you hear riffs floating around your head, making you spin until you catch your breath finally as the final track ‘Stoopin’’ plays the needle off.”
Formed in 2016, Leafblower gestated in Omaha as a side project while each band member tended to their other bands – each of different genres, from post-punk (New Lungs, The Fucking Party), to indie (Little Brazil), to old-school reinvented country (Lightning Stills). The band’s amalgamated sound coalesced into the post-rock masterpiece that is their album Burn Cruise. “Burn Cruise is made up of a collection of songs we’ve written over the last couple of years,” concludes Maxwell, proud of their debut. “The album has taken on its own identity through the scope of our shared experiences. Like taking a moment in traffic to have a gander within. Focusing on oneself amongst the noise.”
