“‘Unforgivable’ [stands] as testament to Savior’s talent and having the benefit of incredible collaborators and the strength that comes when an artist is determined to make it work no matter what. The fact that ‘Unforgivable’ and follow-up single ‘The Mothership’ are so polished and gorgeous is all the proof you need that artists will move mountains to realize their art, even though they shouldn’t have to.” — Far Out Magazine

“With the darkly cinematic opening singles “Unforgivable” and “The Mothership,” Savior is more creatively liberated than ever before. Beneath The Lilypad is shaping up to be her magnum opus.” — 1883 Magazine

“When you hear Alexandra Savior sing, it feels less like listening to a song and more like eavesdropping on a beautiful secret. With a voice that drips with vintage noir as if she was conjured by a David Lynchian dream, Savior’s tracks both bewitch and comfort, transporting us to a world where everything is fine.” — Noir

Acclaimed, alt-pop force Alexandra Savior has released her highly anticipated third studio album Beneath The Lilypad via RCA Records. PRESS HERE to stream / download. Produced by Drew Erickson (Lana Del Rey, Father John Misty) and standing as a testament to Savior’s resilience, Beneath The Lilypad features smoky, cinematic singles “Unforgivable” and “The Mothership,” and captures a journey through uncertainty. Today’s release also welcomes atmospheric, bittersweet new single “Goodbye, Old Friend,” a post-mortem of a relationship that takes a close look at the role Savior herself played in its demise.

“‘Goodbye, Old Friend’ was one of the first songs we recorded. I think it paved the way to what the rest of the record was going to sound like,” shares Savior. “It’s about the aftermath of a relationship and going over a situation and seeing the roles that I played, and the roles other people played and letting go of it.”

Existing between planes and genres, Beneath The Lilypad does not tread a linear path. “Because that’s not how life goes, and that’s certainly not been true of my mental health journey,” Savior adds. “I wanted this album to really reflect that. Life is up and down. It wouldn’t have been true to who I am or where I am to have told this story any other way.”

A peek into how Savior experiences the world, the view from Beneath The Lilypad represents the experience of psychosis — being underwater and looking up at the world from the underside of life. “The beauty and the reality of what we see is the lily on the surface of the water,” Savior shares. “To be beneath it and see the roots, my perception of what everybody else is experiencing can be different and darker and blurred.”

Featuring new, self-reflective tracks such as “All of the Girls,” “You Make It Easier,” and “Old Oregon” which fill out the pages of Beneath The Lilypad’s chapters, the album navigates new frontiers of vulnerability during a time when Savior’s sense of artistic identity came into question. Marking a significant milestone in Savior’s career, Beneath The Lilypad is an 11-song collection of rich, deeply personal, and relatable narratives that are the result of an unbridled creative freedom driven by instinct. Tackling themes of love, ego, insecurity, and mental health, Savior empowers others traversing similar terrain, as she takes the helm on a course of her own terms.

In tandem with the release of the album, Savior has announced a string of west coast dates set to kick off August 6 in San Diego. Bringing her incomparable live show to Los Angeles and Santa Ana, Savior will also be taking the stage at Outside Lands in San Francisco. Artist pre-sale begins today at 12:00 p.m. PT ahead of general on-sale on Tuesday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Please visit alexandrasavior.com for tickets, pre-sale, and all the latest information on upcoming live shows.

“Goodbye, Old Friend” follows the recent release of single “The Mothership,” a lushly orchestrated love song of silver screen dream pop that speaks to Savior’s bond and tenderness toward her partner and producer Drew Erickson, and lead single “Unforgivable,” an instant fan favorite that invites an open conversation about the misuse of power and was written as a mantra to stop blaming yourself for the unforgivable things that others have done to you.

Savior has made a name for herself as an effortlessly cool, once-in-a-generation talent and, in her new music, is paying homage to noir and vintage surrealist cinema as well as prophetic image makers Man Ray, Jean Cocteau, and Maya Deren. With almost 200 million organic streams on Spotify alone, Savior has received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Billboard, VICE, Consequence, Forbes, Interview Magazine, Refinery29, Paste, NME, Clash, and many more for her unwavering, undefinable artistry and previous albums The Archer, which welcomed breakthrough hit “Can’t Help Myself,” and her debut Belladonna of Sadness.
