Wing Amari McCottry (Milwaukee, Wis.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Saint Louis University and play basketball for the Billikens, SLU head coach Josh Schertz announced today. McCottry begins his four years of eligibility in the 2024-25 season.
“We have recruited Amari for the last year and he’s a young man with a limitless ceiling,” Schertz said. “His size, skill and explosiveness are all at the very highest level, and on top of that he is a fantastic teammate. We could not be more excited to have the opportunity to coach Amari and work together to maximize his potential.”
McCottry prepped at St. Thomas More in Wisconsin and helped the Cavaliers to the WIAA Division 3 state title and a 29-1 record this past year. He averaged 22.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.1 steals.
In four years at St. Thomas More, the 6-foot-6 McCottry scored a school-record 2,284 points and brought down nearly 800 rebounds. He was a three-time Metro Classic Conference Player of the Year.
McCottry is the second incoming freshman signed by Schertz, joining Max Pikaar.
