Last week was as exhausting as it was fun – I was lucky to attend four concerts in as many days, all of which were at separate venues. Three of those venues were ones I had yet to see a show at and three of the artists were ones I had yet to see perform. The second show of what I am referring to as #ConcertBenderWeek was Pecos & the Rooftops at Delmar Hall and the following is my recap of the show including photographs of it by the incredibly talented Breelyn Craig (Breelyn Craig Photography.)

First I’d like to thank Pecos’ team and specifically his tour manager, Jackson McCormack, for allowing us to provide all-access coverage of the show; my first show at Delmar Hall will be tough to beat with the backstage view and VIP treatment.
The show started on a high note (a kazoo note, specifically) with St. Louis local favorite the Cree Rider Family Band.

Good merch can be a make-or-break for a concert and Pecos is far from short in that regard. From the t-shirts, hats, koozies, and stickers there is almost too much to choose from. I make a point to purchase at least a koozie at each concert I go to and this one is immediately one of my favorites in the collection.
The packed-house crowd was all in from the first note of the first song of the set, and for good reason – these guys rock. Pecos Hurley’s voice is both classically gritty yet fresh and captivating, and in addition to looking like Rob Gronkowski with cooler hair he effortlessly demands the attention of everyone in the room. Comprised of two guitars, bass, and drums, the Rooftops blend styles like country, southern rock, and blues and alongside Pecos have drawn comparisons to Hootie and the Blowfish and Cross Canadian Ragweed – good company to be in, if you ask me!
The set list was a variety of fan favorites and new or even unreleased songs much to the approval of a crowd much larger than expectations and as lively as one twice its size. The level of support I witnessed on Thursday for a group that is so clearly on the verge of breaking through their glass ceiling is proof that they will do just that; I predict their climb to the higher ranks of the country music world to happen upon the release of their upcoming album Cabin Fever, which is reportedly arriving this fall. I for one can’t wait for the album and will be the first in line to see them again when they return on tour for it.
