Saint Louis men’s soccer released its spring exhibition schedule today. The Billikens will play nine games on five dates in March and April as it prepares for the 2019 season.
Saint Louis opens the slate on Tuesday, March 5, taking on Jefferson College (5pm) and Forward Madison FC (7pm) at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. Jefferson College posted an 11-5 record last year. Forward Madison FC, based in Madison, Wis., is a professional team in its inaugural season in the new USL League One.
Wright State and East Central Community College are the Billikens’ opponents on Sunday, March 31, at Hermann Stadium beginning at 3pm. Wright State went 13-3-3 a season ago and fell in the Horizon League championship match. East Central CC was 10-6 last year and outscored its opponents 46-23.
The Billikens continue the spring slate Saturday, April 6, hosting Xavier and St. Louis CC at Hermann Stadium beginning at 6pm. Xavier, a former Atlantic 10 Conference rival of the Billikens, went 6-7-6 last year. St. Louis CC were regional champions a season ago and finished eighth in the NJCAA National Men’s Soccer Tournament.
Columbia (Mo.) College and Central Methodist visit Hermann Stadium Sunday, April 14, beginning at 3pm. Columbia won 13 matches last year and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. Central Methodist are the defending NAIA national champions.
Saint Louis concludes the spring slate on Saturday, April 27, when it travels to Springfield, Missouri, to face the Missouri State Bears in a 5pm kickoff. Last season, Missouri State won nine games and fell in PKs in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference championship.
The Billikens return six of their top seven scorers from last year’s team that finished 6-4-7 under first-year head coach Kevin Kalish.
