The Santa Ana Police Department has confirmed that more than 200 packages containing PSA-graded trading cards, with an estimated value of nearly $1 million, were stolen from a FedEx truck parked outside the headquarters of Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) last week.
The theft occurred on October 13, 2026, at PSA’s grading center located at 1610 E. St. Andrew Place. According to police, the FedEx driver left the vehicle unattended for between 60 and 90 minutes near the facility’s shipping and receiving area. During that time, the truck’s lock was broken and packages were removed.
Two pallets, each holding an estimated 100 packages, were stolen, along with approximately 50 packages from a third pallet. PSA reported to authorities that the two fully stolen pallets carried an approximate value of $963,000. The value of the packages taken from the third pallet remains under review as the company continues to identify exactly which shipments were affected. The exact number of individual cards involved is not yet known.
The stolen packages contained various PSA-graded trading cards that had already been authenticated and were in the process of being returned to their owners. Police said the contents included sports cards and Pokémon cards, among other collectibles.
“The exact value of the stolen items has not yet been determined, pending further investigation. The investigation remains ongoing,” the Santa Ana Police Department said in a statement. “Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.” As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made and none of the stolen items have been recovered.
PSA’s parent company, Collectors, acknowledged the incident in a statement posted on its website. “We are aware of a theft involving a third-party shipping vehicle carrying PSA-graded items. We are working closely with law enforcement and the carrier as the investigation continues,” the company said. Collectors has deactivated the certification numbers for the stolen cards and notified marketplace partners to watch for rare and serialized items that may appear for sale. The company has also contacted affected customers and is arranging compensation based on the fair market value of the missing items, up to the maximum insured value selected by each customer prior to grading.
FedEx said the security of its customers’ shipments is a top priority and that it is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
The case highlights ongoing security concerns in the high-value trading card market, where graded sports and hobby cards frequently command significant prices. Police continue to investigate the theft.
