St. Louis will welcome multi-award-winning multi-instrumentalist Brian Culbertson and his full eight-piece band on May 2, 2027, at The Pageant as part of The Midnight Tapes Tour. The show supports Culbertson’s 30th studio album, The Midnight Tapes, set for release on February 5, and marks one of the Midwest stops on the extensive spring leg of the tour.
Culbertson, known for his seamless blend of contemporary jazz, funk, R&B, and soul, recorded the new album by performing all 44 instruments himself. The collection draws on vintage influences while delivering a fresh, contemporary energy. Its lead single, “’76 Monte Carlo,” a groove-driven track inspired by a late-night drive, has already gone to radio, with the digital release and official music video scheduled for November 27.
Onstage, Culbertson will be joined by a veteran ensemble featuring Patches Stewart on trumpet, Adrian Crutchfield on saxophones, Darnell “Showcase” Taylor on guitar, Rishon Odel on bass, Eddie Miller and Walter English III on keys and vocals, Chris Miskel on drums, and Gabriel Falcon on percussion. The production is expected to include updated lighting, instrumentation, and wardrobe designed to bring the world of The Midnight Tapes to life in ways audiences have not previously seen.
“I’m really excited to perform this new music on tour and hear how my band takes it to another level,” Culbertson said. “I already know how Chris will blaze on those drums and how Showcase will add even more funk to the guitar parts. Each musician is incredibly talented, so it’s going to be fun to see how the album tracks evolve.”
The Midnight Tapes Tour launches April 7 in Akron, Ohio, and includes stops in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Detroit, and multiple Florida cities before arriving in St. Louis. A second leg is planned for fall 2027, with additional dates to be announced on February 8. Tickets for the tour, including the May 2 performance at The Pageant, go on sale October 23.
