RJ Mitte, the actor best known for portraying Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on the Emmy-winning AMC series *Breaking Bad*, has died at the age of 34, according to reports confirmed by multiple outlets including TMZ and Deadline.

A county official told TMZ that Mitte died Monday in Brownsville, Texas. TMZ reported that he died by suicide, and law enforcement said the death investigation is ongoing. His representatives confirmed the news, stating: “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”

Mitte was born Roy Frank Mitte III on August 21, 1992, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age three and used his platform to advocate for greater representation and inclusion for people with disabilities in entertainment and beyond. Like the character he played, Mitte lived with the condition; he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s and as president of The Mitte Foundation, which supports community initiatives.

He appeared in 56 episodes of *Breaking Bad* (2008–2013), opposite Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Anna Gunn, bringing authenticity drawn from his own experiences to the role of Walter White’s son. Beyond the series, his credits include films such as *The Oak Room* and *The Recall*, as well as the Netflix series *The Guardians of Justice*. He continued acting and producing while remaining active in disability advocacy.

Mitte was engaged to Kennedy Suarez; the couple announced their engagement in 2025 after years together. He had recently discussed the impact of *Breaking Bad* in interviews, including an appearance on a podcast earlier this month.

His representatives asked that the privacy of his family and close ones be respected. The news comes as a sudden loss for fans of the landmark series and for those who followed his advocacy work.
