The St. Louis Blues open the 2026-27 season Friday night in a Central Division matchup against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. CT.
Dallas won 50 games last season before falling to the Minnesota Wild in six games in the Western Conference First Round. St. Louis finished 37-33-12 and spent the summer reshaping its roster. Friday is the first of four meetings between the teams this season.
Robert Thomas will wear the “C” for the first time in a regular-season game. The lineup around him includes several new faces: center Mason McTavish and forward Connor McMichael, acquired in the offseason, along with forward Ross Johnston and defenseman Brandon Carlo. Adam Jiricek, a 2024 first-round pick, is expected to make his NHL debut on defense beside Philip Broberg. Joel Hofer is projected to start in goal, with Jordan Binnington available.
St. Louis’ projected forward lines have Dylan Holloway, Thomas and Jimmy Snuggerud on the top unit, Pavel Buchnevich between McTavish and McMichael, and Jake Neighbours with Dalibor Dvorsky and Jonatan Berggren. Logan Mailloux (hand) and Tyler Tucker (knee) are out.
Dallas brings back a top-heavy attack led by Jason Robertson, who signed a one-year, $12 million deal after leading the Stars with 96 points (45 goals, 51 assists) last season. Tyler Seguin returns for his first regular-season game since Dec. 2, 2025, after right-knee ACL surgery. Matt Duchene (lower body) is out and was placed on long-term injured reserve. Jake Oettinger is expected to start in goal. The Stars are 3-1 against the Blues last season and are seeking a seventh straight season-opening win.
The series has tilted Dallas’s way recently. St. Louis went 1-3-0 against the Stars last year and is 3-5-3 in the last 11 meetings. Dallas is 78-50-28 all-time against St. Louis at home.
The game airs nationally in the United States on TNT and truTV, with a live stream on HBO Max. In Canada it is on Sportsnet One. Local radio coverage is on 101 ESPN. Streaming options that carry TNT and truTV include YouTube TV, Hulu, DIRECTV Stream and Sling TV, subject to package and region.
