Los Angeles alternative metal outfit Holywatr is still early in a 40-date North American headline run behind their third album, Deo Gratias, and St. Louis is stop two. After opening the trek at Louder Than Life in Louisville, the band hits The Old Rock House on Monday, September 21.

Deo Gratias

The record dropped April 17, 2026, and the title — Latin for “thanks be to God” — is not a gimmick. Holywatr folds faith, doubt, and confession into a sound that swings from soaring melody to crushing breakdowns. The mix is alternative metal, metalcore, emo, and progressive post-hardcore: atmospheric when it wants to be, physical when it needs to be. Tracks like “Pure Leaf,” “Are You There?,” “Burn The Witch,” “Prove Me Wrong,” and “Writing Goodbyes” have been the ones fans and reviewers keep circling. A standalone single, “green room,” followed in late August.

The project started in 2020 as a solo outlet and grew into a full band. Direct-support runs with Architects and Chiodos, festival dates, and a sold-out European headline stretch did the rest. The Deo Gratias tour is the biggest room they have headlined in the States so far — rooms like Old Rock House, Metro in Chicago, Irving Plaza in New York, and a closer at The Fonda in Los Angeles on November 22. Festival stops at Aftershock and Vans Warped Tour Orlando are built into the routing.

Live, they play like a band that treats the set as an organism rather than a product. Expect a 60-to-75-minute set heavy on the new album, with older cuts from red heifer and Psalms mixed in. Recent sets have opened with heat and closed on catalog favorites. Mercury appears as support on multiple dates on this run.
