Canadian metallic hardcore outfit Get The Shot have returned with “Crucifixion Depiction,” a punishing new single that confronts grief, failed ambition, and the death of a long-held dream. The track is out now and serves as the title cut and first look at the band’s forthcoming EP of the same name, due October 23 via Arising Empire.

The Quebec City band built its reputation on a no-compromise DIY approach and a ferocious live show, logging more than 500 dates across three continents and sharing stages at Hellfest, Jera On Air, Summer Breeze, and Groezrock. Records such as No Peace In Hell, Infinite Punishment, and 2022’s Merciless Destruction steadily pushed their hardcore foundation into heavier, more extreme territory. “Crucifixion Depiction” continues that trajectory.

Rather than mourning another person, the song examines a different kind of loss: watching a future you sacrificed everything for collapse. Lyrics such as “I’m losing everything / Is this the end of me?” capture that desperation. The central image—a dream crucified and left by the roadside after years of devotion—turns abstract defeat into something physical and brutal. Faith evaporates, walls cave in, and the narrator is forced to admit that surrender can hurt as much as losing someone close.

Yet the track is not only about collapse. A “crack in the armor” hints at unexpected release. Letting go of a misplaced belief, the band suggests, can be the first step toward rebuilding.

Musically the song delivers exactly what Get The Shot have become known for: crushing riffs, merciless grooves, suffocating heaviness, and explosive vocals. The stark refrain “Nails. Hammer. Cross.” reduces the metaphor to three blunt images before the final section pits sacrifice, self-destruction, and a hard-won sense of liberation against one another. The official video, directed by Anthony Altamura and featuring Quebec City’s Don’t Try, is streaming now.

The four-track Crucifixion Depiction EP also includes previously released single “Feed Me to the Pigs” along with “Strained” and “Prying Eyes.” Pre-orders are live through Arising Empire.

For a band that has spent years turning personal and collective struggle into high-impact hardcore, “Crucifixion Depiction” feels like a statement of where Get The Shot stand today: willing to watch everything they believed in fall apart, accept the death of a dream, and keep moving.
