Three-time GRAMMY-nominated Spiritbox are back today with “Mourning,” a standalone single via Pale Chord / Rise Records. It’s the band’s first original music since last year’s Tsunami Sea, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart and No. 26 on the Billboard 200.
Courtney LaPlante’s clean vocals sit front and center. The track moves from restrained, atmospheric passages into heavier layers of guitar, percussion, and ambience without abandoning the dynamic contrast that defines the band. It’s a more subdued cut than much of the Tsunami Sea era, but the weight is still there.
The official video, co-directed by Alex Bemis and guitarist Mike Stringer, marks a clear visual shift. The stark black-and-white look of the last cycle gives way to vivid outdoor landscapes and an otherworldly honeycomb-like structure, with a recurring hooded figure adding an ominous thread.
The timing is tight. Spiritbox just finished a North American run supporting Evanescence and open their Tsunami Sea UK & European Tour this Saturday in Glasgow with Jinjer and Dying Wish. The run includes their biggest UK headline dates yet, capped by London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Sept. 19. They then play with Metallica at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Nov. 21 before wrapping the year at Good Things Festival in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
LaPlante has also been busy outside the band: she joined Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes and producer Grabbitz on “If The Sun Burns Out Tonight,” the official anthem for the 2026 VALORANT Champions Tour (due Sept. 16), and recently launched her first signature vocal plugin with MixWave.
