Queens of the Stone Age have officially revealed details for their ninth studio album, Perfecth, set for release on October 30 via Matador Records. The announcement arrives alongside the new single “Insignificant Other,” a loose, groovy track that continues the band’s recent shift toward more spacious, instinctive performances.

The album follows 2023’s In Times New Roman… and marks the group’s first full-length since that record. Frontman Josh Homme coined the title as a deliberate rejection of the word “perfect.” “Nothing in this world is perfect, but everything seems to be ‘perfecth,’” Homme said in a statement. “And that title is funny when you’re in a group, but it ain’t so funny when you’re alone.”
The concept draws on the Japanese art of kintsugi—repairing broken pottery with gold so the cracks become part of the beauty. Homme has described the record as mapping different forms of love: romantic, familial, platonic, and the kinds that leave scars before teaching you how to heal. “Every song sounds like it’s from a different world,” he added, “and that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.”
Perfecth was produced by Homme and bassist Michael Shuman. Sessions took place across New Orleans, Joshua Tree, and Los Angeles. The core lineup remains Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore. The album contains nine tracks:

“Insignificant Other” serves as the record’s centerpiece. Homme has called it a song about distance—“how someone can be your entire world only to simply vanish. And about the strange vertigo of being on the receiving end of that.” The band captured the track in just two takes, preserving a loose, unguarded feel that recalls the late-night groove of earlier material such as “Make It Wit Chu.” It follows July’s “Easy Street,” which featured Nikki Lane and marked the group’s first new music in three years.
The album’s arrival comes after a period of activity that included the 2025 concert film and live release Alive in the Catacombs, recorded during a stripped-back performance in the Paris Catacombs in 2024. That experience appears to have informed the new material’s more open, human approach.
Queens of the Stone Age are currently supporting Foo Fighters on a North American stadium run before heading to Australia, Asia, and additional headline dates later this year. Perfecth is available for pre-order in multiple formats, including a limited deluxe edition with handwritten lyrics, stationery, and custom art elements.
After years of refining their sound and surviving personal and professional turbulence, the band sounds ready to lean into the cracks rather than hide them. Perfecth arrives October 30.
