Fresh off appearing in Missy Elliott’s tribute to Aaliyah at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture, singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Charlie Bereal returns with his new single, “Out There For Me,” opening the portal for the next chapter of his solo career and previewing his August 5th performance at Blue Note Los Angeles. Listen to “Out There For Me” HERE.

Built around warm, hypnotic instrumentation, layered harmonies and Bereal’s expressive vocals, “Out There For Me” is a modern, yet retro-soul ballad about holding onto hope that the right kind of love still exists. Drawing from the richness of classic ’70s soul while embracing a contemporary perspective, the song reflects on searching through uncertainty with faith that love is worth waiting for. The track has already gained support on DSPs with placements on Apple Music’s Brown Sugar, Grown N Sexy, and Soul Revival playlists.

“It’s about believing that the right love is still out there,” says Bereal. “Life can make you question that sometimes, but faith means keeping your heart open anyway.”

“Out There For Me” follows another recent release for Bereal, “Sneak Attacc,” a new collaboration with KuruptDJ Battlecat and Snoop Dogg. Produced by DJ Battlecat, the track places Bereal alongside three pillars of West Coast hip-hop while continuing a career that has long crossed the worlds of soul, R&B and rap. Although many listeners are discovering Charlie Bereal as a recording artist, his career has long been woven into some of the most recognizable records in R&B and hip-hop. Raised in Pasadena, California, Bereal began playing guitar in church before joining GRAMMY Award-winning gospel artist Donnie McClurkin‘s touring band while still in high school. By eighteen, he had already established himself as both a touring musician and producer.

Over the next two decades, Bereal contributed as a guitarist, songwriter and producer alongside artists including JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Kanye West, Raphael Saadiq, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Ashanti, Mario, Tweet, Ja Rule, Nelly and Busta Rhymes. His guitar work helped shape recordings including Aaliyah‘s “More Than a Woman,” Missy Elliott’s “One Minute Man,” and Mýa‘s “My Love Is Like…Whoa.” He has also multiple GRAMMY nominations and a partnership with Fender.

While his résumé continued to grow behind the scenes, Bereal remained focused on developing his own artistic voice. That journey led to his 2025 Death Row Records debut, Walk with the Father, a collection that blended soul, gospel and R&B while earning coverage from Billboard, VIBE, REVOLT, KCRW, Uproxx and more. The album marked an expansion of a career that stepped into the spotlight on the stage, studio, and songwriter’s room expanding upon his impressive accolades as a songwriter and producer.

“Out There For Me” continues that trajectory as Bereal prepares for a headlining performance at Blue Note Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 5, featuring acclaimed drummer Chris Dave as a special guest. The performance offers audiences an opportunity to experience the artist behind decades of influential collaborations in an intimate setting centered on his own catalog.

From touring professionally as a teenager and contributing to defining records of the 2000s to working alongside many of music’s biggest names before stepping forward as a solo artist, his career offers a rare perspective on the evolution of contemporary R&B, soul and hip-hop from both sides of the spotlight.
