Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong confirmed the deal Friday afternoon: St. Louis receives Detroit’s 2026 first-round pick, the San Jose Sharks’ 2026 third-round selection (via prior trade), forward prospect Dmitri Buchelnikov, and defenseman Justin Holl. In return, the Red Wings add Faulk’s veteran presence and puck-moving ability to their blue line as they chase a playoff berth in the Atlantic Division.
The move caps a busy deadline period for the Blues, who earlier shipped captain Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders, underscoring their commitment to a full-scale rebuild around a young core.
Faulk, 33, departs after seven productive seasons in St. Louis following his 2019 acquisition from the Carolina Hurricanes. A native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, he has served as a reliable, minutes-eating right-shot defenseman, often logging top-pairing duty and contributing offensively from the back end.
This season, Faulk appeared in 61 games, posting 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) with 32 penalty minutes while averaging heavy ice time. Across his 15-year NHL career, he has tallied 490 points (141 goals, 349 assists) and 510 penalty minutes in 1,041 regular-season contests.
