Paramount Powers Up the TMNT Franchise with Themed Pizzerias

Paramount is taking the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles legacy to a delicious new level. The entertainment giant, which oversees the beloved franchise through Nickelodeon and its film divisions, has announced plans to launch official TMNT-themed pizzerias. This expansion immerses fans in the world of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo—where pizza isn’t just a meal, it’s a cultural cornerstone.

The announcement came as part of a broader push to revitalize and expand the TMNT brand in 2026. Paramount revealed a multi-faceted strategy that includes a new preschool-targeted animated series on YouTube titled Teeny Mutant Ninja Turtles, a major toy licensing deal with Mattel, illustrated books (including a middle-grade title and an adult novel based on The Last Ronin), and these immersive dining experiences. The pizzerias represent one of the most hands-on ways yet for fans to live out the turtles’ endless love for cheesy, New York-style slices.

The first locations are slated to open later in 2026 in three key spots: Santa Monica, California (right on the iconic 3rd Street Promenade), Monterrey, Mexico, and São Paulo, Brazil. While full details on menus, decor, and exact opening dates remain under wraps, early teases point to classic New York-style pizza with a TMNT twist—think oversized, gooey slices that would make Michelangelo proud, served in family-friendly spaces decked out with sewer-inspired vibes, character artwork, and plenty of ninja turtle Easter eggs.

The Santa Monica spot has been generating buzz for months. Entrepreneur Andy Nguyen (known for themed concepts like the Hello Kitty Cafe and Sonic the Hedgehog Cafe) is collaborating with Nickelodeon on the project. Social media posts from Nguyen and others have shown construction progress, kitchen tastings with NYC-style pizzaiolos, and signage confirming a 2026 debut. Fans are already speculating about custom toppings, TMNT-branded merch available on-site, and perhaps even themed events or photo ops with the half-shelled heroes.

This isn’t Paramount’s first rodeo with TMNT and pizza synergy. The franchise has long partnered with chains like Pizza Hut for movie promotions—think limited-edition boxes, AR games, and underground delivery stunts tied to films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Past tie-ins date back decades, including the 1990s Turtlemania era. But these dedicated, official pizzerias mark a bolder step: turning the turtles’ signature obsession into brick-and-mortar reality.

Why pizza? As any TMNT fan knows, the love affair started in the original comics and carried through cartoons, movies, and beyond. The turtles’ catchphrases like “Cowabunga!” often accompany a pizza box, and episodes (or even villains like Pizza Face) revolve around it. Paramount’s Josh Silverman, president of global products and experiences, highlighted the move as part of bringing the IP to life in fresh, experiential ways.

For a generation raised on the turtles defining pizza as the ultimate comfort food, these pizzerias could become pilgrimage sites. Imagine grabbing a slice under neon signs featuring the Foot Clan or Splinter’s wisdom, all while the classic theme plays in the background.

As 2026 unfolds—with more TMNT films on the horizon (including a live-action installment)—these eateries promise to blend nostalgia, fun, and seriously good pizza. Whether you’re a longtime shellhead or discovering the franchise anew, get ready: the turtles are coming for your taste buds.
