St. Louis’s own post-hardcore heroes, Story of the Year, are gearing up to celebrate the launch of their eighth studio album, A.R.S.O.N., with a headline performance at The Pageant on February 14, 2026. This special hometown show comes just one day after the album’s global release on February 13 via SharpTone Records, promising an explosive night of raw energy and fan-favorite anthems in the city where it all began for the band.
A.R.S.O.N., an acronym for “All Rage, Still Only Numb,” represents a bold evolution in the band’s sound, blending their signature melodic aggression with themes of anxiety, emotional turmoil, and personal survival. Produced by Colin Brittain, who also helmed their 2023 release Tear Me to Pieces, the album channels explosive post-hardcore elements with polished production and echoes of their early emo roots. As the band explains, it picks up where their previous work left off, focusing on big guitars, snappy drums, and frontman Dan Marsala’s versatile vocals tackling desperation and complex relationships.
The album has already generated buzz with its lead singles. First up was “Gasoline (All Rage Still Only Numb),” a crushing track about hitting rock bottom that quickly climbed to #1 on SiriusXM Octane and tied for the fifth most-added song on active rock charts upon release. Its action-packed music video captures the song’s intensity, blending heavy riffs and zero restraint. Following that, “Disconnected” dropped as the second single, offering a vulnerable look at frustration and isolation. Marsala’s confessional lyrics—”I’m sick of being disconnected from everything I need”—pair with cathartic screams, punchy guitars, and massive drums. Guitarist Ryan Phillips shared insight into its creation: “When I showed Colin the original version, he loved everything besides the main guitar riff. One day by chance, I played him a song for a solo record… He stopped and said, ‘Dude, that’s the riff we need.’ It worked perfectly.”

Story of the Year burst onto the scene over two decades ago with their 2003 debut Page Avenue, which sold over a million copies and spawned the enduring anthem “Until the Day I Die.” Formed by Dan Marsala (vocals), Ryan Phillips (guitar), Josh Wills (drums), and Adam Russell (bass)—who started as friends in a St. Louis pizza joint—the band has built a legacy through albums like In the Wake of Determination (2005), The Black Swan (2008), The Constant (2010), Wolves (2017), and Tear Me to Pieces (2023). Their music fuses vulnerability with high-octane aggression, creating sing-along moments that resonate deeply with listeners.
2025 was a banner year for live shows, including standout sets at Aftershock, When We Were Young, Vans Warped Tour Orlando, and a co-headlining tour with Senses Fail. Looking ahead to 2026, the band is keeping the momentum alive. They kicked off the year with a spot on the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise from January 22-26. The St. Louis release festivities include an in-store signing at Vintage Vinyl on February 13 at 6 PM (album purchase required for entry), followed by the headline show at The Pageant the next day. Joining them on stage will be special guests Letterkills and Rushmore Academy, with tickets moving fast. Doors open at 7 PM, show starts at 8 PM, and general admission tickets start at $40 via Ticketmaster or the venue’s site—all ages welcome.
