Texas Tech has landed Cincinnati transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby, the consensus top player in the January 2026 transfer portal, in a deal reportedly worth around $5 million in NIL compensation for the upcoming season.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound dual-threat QB chose the Red Raiders over LSU following visits to both programs. His commitment comes days after Texas Tech’s 23-0 loss to Oregon in the Orange Bowl, capping a 2025 season that saw the Red Raiders win the Big 12 and reach the College Football Playoff.

  • Started at Indiana before transferring to Cincinnati.
  • 2025 stats: 2,800 passing yards, 27 TDs, 5 INTs; 580 rushing yards, 9 rushing TDs.
  • Career: Over 7,200 passing yards, 60 passing TDs, 1,300+ rushing yards, 22 rushing TDs.
  • Earned second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2025.

Sorsby replaces graduating starter Behren Morton and steps in while backup Will Hammond recovers from an ACL injury.
