Former DragonForce and Skid Row frontman ZP Theart has made a triumphant return to the music scene with his new solo single “Dark to Light”, marking his first original release in 13 years. The track, accompanied by a striking music video, showcases Theart’s signature soaring vocals in a fresh, melodic hard rock direction.
Theart, known for his sky-high melodies and relentless energy, first rose to fame as the founding vocalist of power metal icons DragonForce. His contributions to albums like Valley of the Damned (2003), Sonic Firestorm (2004), Inhuman Rampage (2006), and Ultra Beatdown (2008) helped propel the band to global success, including RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications.
After parting ways with DragonForce in 2010, Theart formed I AM I, shifting toward a hard rock sound, and briefly fronted NWBHM legends Tank on their 2015 album Valley of Tears. In 2016, he joined American hard rockers Skid Row, becoming their official vocalist in 2017 and touring extensively until his departure in 2022 amid creative differences.
Theart also lent his talents to Riot Games’ virtual metal band Pentakill, voicing the character Karthus on the 2014 album Smite and Ignite.
Now, with “Dark to Light”, Theart embarks on his first true solo chapter. Collaborating with Swiss producer and writer Syndrone, the single blends sharp melodies with powerful, unapologetic intensity.
“This single marks my first solo release, and stepping into this new chapter has been incredibly energizing,” Theart stated. “I’ve been collaborating with the ridiculously talented Swiss writer and producer Syndrone and it has opened the door to a sound I’ve been wanting to explore for a long time. I’m beyond excited to reveal everything I have planned for you all in 2026. Merry fucking Christmas!”
From speed metal pioneer to hard rock mainstay and digital-era contributor, ZP Theart’s career spans over two decades of genre-defying versatility. “Dark to Light” isn’t just a comeback—it’s the ignition of a bold new era, promising more revelations in 2026.
