In a chilly, overcast afternoon at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, the Missouri Tigers (8-4) capped off their regular season with a convincing 31-17 victory over the rival Arkansas Razorbacks (2-10). The win not only extended Missouri’s dominance in the Battle Line Rivalry but also provided a strong finish to a season marked by ups and downs for head coach Eliah Drinkwitz’s squad. Despite entering the game as 4.5-point favorites, the Tigers had to battle through a competitive first half before pulling away in the second.
The game kicked off with Missouri asserting early control. After Arkansas won the toss and deferred, the Tigers wasted no time on their opening drive. Quarterback Beau Pribula exploded for a 49-yard run on the first play, setting up running back Jamal Roberts for a 4-yard touchdown plunge just three plays later. The quick strike gave Missouri a 7-0 lead with 13:25 left in the first quarter.
Arkansas responded with resilience, driving 73 yards over 12 plays to tie the game. Starting quarterback KJ Jackson connected with wide receiver O’Mega Blake for a 16-yard touchdown pass, knotting the score at 7-7.
The Razorbacks then seized momentum in dramatic fashion early in the second quarter. On a Missouri drive, Pribula fumbled while dropping back to pass, and Arkansas linebacker Bradley Shaw scooped up the loose ball, racing 32 yards untouched for a touchdown. The defensive score put Arkansas ahead 14-7, energizing the home crowd.
Missouri quickly answered, marching 75 yards in nine plays. Pribula redeemed himself with an 11-yard keeper for a touchdown, tying the game at 14-14 with 9:33 remaining in the half. As the half wound down, Arkansas managed a short field goal from kicker Scott Starzyk, taking a slim 17-14 lead into halftime.
The second half belonged to Missouri. After a pair of quick punts to start the third quarter, running back Ahmad Hardy broke free for a electrifying 53-yard touchdown run down the right sideline. However, the extra point was missed by Robert Meyer, leaving the Tigers with a 20-17 advantage.
Missouri’s defense stiffened, forcing Arkansas into mistakes and limiting their offense. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers extended their lead with a 41-yard field goal, making it 23-17 with 9:56 to play. The dagger came shortly after when wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. fielded a punt and weaved 67 yards for a touchdown return. A successful two-point conversion from Roberts pushed the score to 31-17 with 8:07 remaining, effectively sealing the win.
Arkansas, plagued by injuries and a nine-game losing streak entering the matchup, couldn’t mount a comeback. Key absences included wide receiver Andy Jean and running back Braylen Russell, while Missouri capitalized on their ground game, amassing over 350 rushing yards between Hardy, Roberts, Pribula, and Coleman Jr.
For Missouri, the victory improves their bowl positioning, likely landing them in a mid-tier SEC-affiliated game. Drinkwitz praised his team’s resilience post-game, noting the importance of ending the season strong against a heated rival. Arkansas, meanwhile, finishes a dismal campaign under interim leadership, with reports swirling about a potential hire of South Florida’s Alex Golesh as their next head coach.
The Battle Line Trophy remains in Columbia for another year, as Missouri now looks ahead to bowl season while Arkansas begins a rebuilding offseason.
