In a thunderous return to the metalcore scene, Detroit-based band I Prevail has dropped their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Violent Nature, today, September 19, 2025, via Fearless Records. This marks the band’s first full-length release since 2022’s True Power, and it arrives amid significant changes, including vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe stepping up to handle both clean and screamed vocals following Brian Burkheiser’s absence due to health issues.

Formed in 2013, I Prevail has built a reputation for blending aggressive metalcore with catchy, anthemic choruses, drawing from influences across heavy music, pop, and even country. Their discography, which includes fan-favorites like Lifelines (2016), Trauma (2019), and True Power, has earned them two Grammy nominations and a dedicated global following. Violent Nature continues this evolution, described by the band as their most cohesive work yet, created in an intimate setting with just the five members collaborating. Produced by bassist Jon Eberhard, the album pushes boundaries with heavier riffs, eclectic sounds, and emotional depth.

The 10-track album features:

  1. Synthetic Soul
  2. NWO
  3. Pray
  4. Annihilate Me
  5. Violent Nature
  6. Rain
  7. Into Hell
  8. Crimson & Clover
  9. God
  10. Stay Away

Prior singles like the title track “Violent Nature”—touted as the band’s heaviest song to date—”Annihilate Me,” “Rain,” and “Into Hell” have already generated buzz, showcasing the album’s dynamic range from brutal breakdowns to melodic hooks. Vanlerberghe shared his excitement in a recent interview: “We’re really, really excited to put this stuff out. We had the first single [‘Violent Nature’], which is quite heavy… to shake up the fanbase and kind of throw everyone… We love to… If you look back at our track record, the first singles have always been either what we thought was just a big home run or something that was just a little off of center.” He emphasized the band’s eclectic approach: “Whatever emotion you’re looking for, we’ve probably got it. If you want something to bang your head through the wall, we have that. Do you need something just to sing along to and feel good? We have a couple of those, and everything in between.”

Coinciding with the album’s release, I Prevail unveiled the official music video for “Pray,” the album’s emotionally charged third track. The song delves into themes of pain, isolation, and resentment toward false saviors, reflecting lyrics like “Don’t pray for me / You make me feel so alone.” Musically, it opens with haunting acoustic elements that build into a cathartic, scream-along chorus, luring listeners with intimacy before exploding into intensity. The video, directed with a powerful visual narrative, amplifies the track’s raw emotion, making it a standout focus for the album’s rollout.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting this drop, with pre-saves surpassing previous records by tenfold, signaling what could be I Prevail’s biggest release yet. The band celebrated on social media, posting: “We’re so proud to present to you our brand new album ‘Violent Nature’. Go stream it everywhere.” To mark the occasion, they also hosted an intimate album release show and ran contests for signed guitars and vinyl variants.

Violent Nature is available now on all streaming platforms, with physical copies and exclusive merch via the band’s website and Fearless Records. Watch the “Pray” video on YouTube and dive into what promises to be a defining chapter for I Prevail.
