The Atlanta Falcons have released kicker Younghoe Koo, ending his six-year tenure with the team after a critical miss in Week 1 and a shaky 2024 season. The Falcons promoted Parker Romo from the practice squad, who went 5-for-5, including a 54-yarder, in a Week 2 win over the Vikings.

Koo, signed in 2019 after stints with the Chargers and AAF’s Atlanta Legends, became a fan favorite with an 86.8% career field goal rate, second-best in Falcons history. His highlights include game-winners against the Packers and Texans. However, nine misses last season and a 44-yard miss in a 23-20 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 1 prompted the move.

Romo, a Georgia native, takes over as the Falcons (1-1) prepare for Carolina in Week 3. Koo, 31, is now a free agent, likely drawing interest from other teams.
