Anna Faris and Regina Hall will reprise their roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks in a Scary Movie reboot set for release on June 12, 2026, Miramax and Paramount announced on August 15, 2025. The horror-comedy franchise, which began in 2000, sees the return of the Wayans brothers—Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory—who created the series. They’re co-writing the script with Rick Alvarez, with Keenen producing and Michael Tiddes directing.

Faris and Hall, stars of the first four films, bring back their iconic chemistry as Cindy, a bumbling heroine, and Brenda, her outspoken best friend. “We’re thrilled to revive Brenda and Cindy and reunite with Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon,” they told Deadline. The reboot, not tied to past films’ timelines, aims to recapture the original’s irreverent humor, potentially parodying modern horror like Hereditary or M3GAN. Marlon Wayans teased the return of “the fab four” on Instagram, including himself as Shorty and Shawn as Ray.

The Scary Movie series, which grossed over $900 million globally, faltered with 2013’s poorly received fifth film. With production starting October 2025, the reboot promises a return to the franchise’s roots, blending new gags with nostalgic laughs.
