On August 11, 2025, the St. Louis Cardinals purchased the contract of outfielder Andrew Sojka from the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League.
Andrew Sojka, a 24-year-old outfielder from Huntington Beach, California, has been a standout performer for the Schaumburg Boomers in the 2025 season. In his second year with the team, Sojka earned a midseason All-Star selection, showcasing his versatility by playing both outfield and third base. Over 70 games, he posted a .312 batting average, smashed 17 home runs, and drove in 65 RBIs, ranking among the Frontier League’s top performers. His 23 stolen bases and 38 extra-base hits—including 16 doubles and five triples—further demonstrated his dynamic skill set, putting him on pace to become a rare 20-20 player (20 home runs and 20 stolen bases) in the league.
Sojka’s 17 home runs rank fifth in Schaumburg’s single-season history, while his 65 RBIs are tied for third. His 164 total bases and 38 extra-base hits placed him second in the Frontier League in those categories at the time of his signing. “We are very excited for Andrew to take the next step in his career,” said Boomers manager Jamie Bennett. “He has worked very hard for this opportunity and has been an extremely fun player to watch. He deserves this chance, and I can’t wait to watch his career continue to develop at the next level.”
Before joining the Boomers, Sojka made a name for himself in the Northwoods League, where he played for the Willmar Stingers in 2024. There, he earned the 2024 Northwoods League MVP award, batting an astonishing .398 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs, and 43 stolen bases in just 58 games. Sojka holds the all-time Northwoods League record for career home runs, approaching 40 during his tenure. His late-season stint with the Boomers in 2024 was equally impressive, as he hit .298 with two home runs, 21 RBIs, and seven stolen bases in 28 games, successfully converting all seven steal attempts.
A graduate of Cal State Northridge, Sojka batted .302 with eight home runs and 64 RBIs during his collegiate career, showcasing the power and speed that have defined his professional journey. His ability to impact games both at the plate and on the basepaths has made him a coveted prospect.
