After years of fan outcry, KFC is finally bringing back its iconic Potato Wedges to menus across the United States starting August 18, 2025. The crispy, seasoned side dish, a staple since the mid-1990s, was discontinued in 2020, sparking widespread disappointment among loyal customers. Replaced by Secret Recipe Fries, the wedges’ absence led to thousands of social media pleas and even a petition with over 8,000 signatures demanding their return.
KFC’s decision follows a successful test run earlier this year in Tampa, Florida, where the wedges sold out quickly, proving their enduring popularity. Described as crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the wedges are celebrated for their unique seasoning and versatility—perfect alone, with dipping sauces, or paired with KFC’s newly relaunched Hot & Spicy Wings, also returning on August 18 after a two-year break.
“For years, KFC has heard from fans clamoring for a chance to try their famous Potato Wedges again,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S. “This isn’t just a nostalgic nod. It’s an example of how we’re turning feedback into action as we chart our Kentucky Fried Comeback.” Customers can order the wedges as a standalone side, swap them for any side, or enjoy them in a new Wings & Wedges Combo with six wings and a medium drink. The return is for a limited time, while supplies last, so fans are urged to act fast.
KFC’s move taps into a wave of fast-food nostalgia, with the chain also rolling out deals like a $3.99 Chicken Sandwich and a $20 Wings & Wedges Fan Favorites Box to mark the occasion. Secret Recipe Fries will remain on the menu, ensuring options for all potato lovers. As KFC aims to reclaim its iconic status, the return of Potato Wedges is a savory step toward winning back hearts—and taste buds—nationwide.
