Gina Carano, Lucasfilm, and Disney have settled their legal dispute over Carano’s 2021 firing from The Mandalorian. The settlement resolves a lawsuit filed by Carano in 2024, alleging wrongful termination and discrimination after her controversial social media posts, including one comparing the treatment of Republicans to Holocaust victims.

Carano claimed Disney targeted her for her conservative views, citing posts by co-stars like Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill that faced no repercussions. Backed by Elon Musk’s X, her lawsuit sought $75,000 in damages and reinstatement as Cara Dune. Disney argued her posts conflicted with their values, but a judge denied their motion to dismiss in July 2024. Discovery revealed extensive documentation, including compensation records for other Star Wars actors.

The confidential settlement includes a statement from Lucasfilm praising Carano’s professionalism and expressing openness to future collaboration.

“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies” “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect” “With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

No terms of the settlement have been disclosed at this time.
