Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has inked a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension, the richest annual extension in NBA history at $72.5 million per year, securing his future with the team through the 2029-30 season. The deal, finalized with Suns owner Mat Ishbia in Las Vegas, brings Booker’s total contract to five years and $316 million.
Selected 13th overall in 2015, the 28-year-old Booker, a four-time All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist, has spent his entire 10-year career with Phoenix. He expressed his commitment to winning a championship with the Suns, who he led to the 2021 NBA Finals and the semifinals the following year. Last season, Booker averaged 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, becoming the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.
Despite a disappointing 36-46 record last season, prompting a trade of Kevin Durant to Houston, Booker remains central to the Suns’ future, even contributing to the hiring of new head coach Jordan Ott.
