Julian McMahon, the Australian-American actor known for his magnetic presence, passed away at 56, after a private battle with cancer, as confirmed by his wife, Kelly Paniagua. His death has left a void in the entertainment world.

Born in Sydney on July 27, 1968, McMahon, son of Australia’s 20th Prime Minister, began in Australian soaps like Home and Away before breaking out as Cole Turner in Charmed. His role as Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck earned a Golden Globe nod, showcasing his complex charm. McMahon also played Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Recently, he starred in The Surfer with Nicolas Cage and portrayed Australia’s Prime Minister in Netflix’s The Residence.

McMahon’s cancer battle was private, though he had shared a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2024. His wife, Kelly, said, “Julian loved life, his family, friends, work, and fans.” Tributes poured in from co-stars like Alyssa Milano and Nicolas Cage. He leaves behind his wife, daughter Madison, and stepdaughter Iliana.

McMahon’s versatile roles and charisma made him a standout. His recent work in The Surfer showed his enduring talent. As Kelly noted, “We wish for those Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life.” Rest in peace, Julian.
