The St. Louis Blues are preparing a strong offer for veteran center Mikael Granlund as NHL free agency begins on July 1, 2025.

Andy Strickland reported last week that he is Blues’ top player of interest.

The 33-year-old, coming off a 66-point season split between the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars, is a top target for the Blues to bolster their second-line center position.

Granlund’s 22 goals, 44 assists, and playoff experience make him a perfect fit for a Blues team with nearly $10 million in cap space. GM Doug Armstrong aims to pair Granlund’s playmaking with young stars like Jordan Kyrou to build on their 2024-25 playoff run under coach Jim Montgomery.

However, the Blues face competition from teams like the Sharks, Hurricanes, Canucks, Canadiens, and Stars. A projected two-year, $4.975 million deal could fit St. Louis’ budget, though rival offers may drive up costs.

With Granlund’s versatility and leadership, the Blues see him as a key piece to elevate their roster. As free agency nears, fans are eager to see if St. Louis can secure his signature and strengthen their Stanley Cup aspirations.
