The St. Louis Ambush have secured defender Raphael Araujo for the upcoming 2025-26 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season. This marks Araujo’s fifth year in the MASL, and he’s ready to bring his A-game back to St. Louis!

Araujo joined the Ambush in January 2024 via a trade from the Baltimore Blast and quickly became a cornerstone of the team. Last season, he played in all 24 games, delivering career-best stats with 13 goals, six assists, and eight blocked opponent shots. His energy and versatility on the field have made him a fan favorite and a vital part of the squad.

Before donning the Ambush jersey, Araujo showcased his skills with the Harrisburg Heat (2021-23), Florida Tropics (2022-23), and Baltimore Blast (2023-24). Across his 67 career MASL regular-season games, he’s racked up an impressive 34 goals, 15 assists, and 23 blocked shots. Talk about a defensive powerhouse with an offensive edge!

Araujo’s journey to the MASL is just as inspiring. A standout collegiate player, he made history as the first All-American at Rutgers-Newark University after also playing for New Jersey City University. Before going pro, he honed his skills with Icon FC and NJ Copa FC in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). His transition to indoor soccer included stints with NJ Copa FC and NY Ecuador in the National League of Professional Futsal (NLPF), and he proudly represented the United States Futsal National Team.

“I’m extremely happy to re-sign with the St. Louis Ambush,” Araujo said. “We made great strides last season, and I’m excited to keep building on that with this group. The team can count on me to give my best at all times to help us succeed. I can’t wait to get back out there and see our amazing fans pack the arena for our home games. Let’s make this season a special one!”

Ambush co-owner and head coach Jeff Locker echoed Araujo’s enthusiasm, saying, “Araujo was an important contributor to our team’s success the last two seasons, and we’re happy we were able to reach a deal to bring him back as we work towards an even better season ahead.”

As the Ambush gear up for their 13th season this fall, all home games will take place at The Family Arena in St. Charles.
