The Cincinnati Reds are calling up pitching phenom Chase Burns, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, for his major league debut on June 24, 2025, against the New York Yankees. The 22-year-old right-hander has dominated the minors with a 1.77 ERA, 89 strikeouts, and 13 walks in 66 innings across High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A this season.

Burns’ upper-90s fastball and elite slider have produced a 36.8% strikeout rate and a 0.77 WHIP. The Reds, at 39-38 and in the wild-card hunt, are turning to Burns to bolster a rotation hit by injuries to Wade Miley and Hunter Greene. Facing Aaron Judge and the Yankees in hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park will test the former Wake Forest star, who went 10-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 2024.

For fantasy managers, Burns is a must-add for his strikeout upside. His call-up signals Cincinnati’s belief in their young talent to push for the postseason. Reds fans are buzzing about Burns potentially anchoring the rotation alongside Rhett Lowder for years to come.
