Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr’s son), Sean Ono Lennon (John Lennon’s son), and James McCartney (Paul McCartney’s son) have collaborated on a new rock song, “Rip Off,” with Starkey’s band, Mantra of the Cosmos. The track, shared by Starkey on Instagram, blends Fab Four influences with a modern edge, featuring vocals from Sean, 49, and James, 47.
This marks the first time three Beatles’ sons have worked together musically. Starkey, 59, emphasized in a Telegraph UK interview that the project reflects his band’s unique sound, not a Beatles revival: “It’s Sean of the Cosmos and James of the Cosmos, it’s still my band.”
James, who taught himself guitar and piano, and Sean, a solo artist who’s collaborated with Lana Del Rey, previously co-wrote the song “Primrose Hill” in April 2024. Despite their legendary lineage, each has carved their own path in music, navigating the weight of their fathers’ legacy.
