Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders found himself in hot water after being ticketed for driving 101 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone in Strongsville, a Cleveland suburb.

According to Fox 8 Cleveland, police records indicate that Sanders received the citation on Interstate 71 North at 12:24 a.m. on Tuesday. He now faces the choice of paying a $250 fine or contesting the ticket in court.

While a speeding ticket is relatively minor in the grand scheme of offenses, this incident does little to dispel concerns about Sanders’ maturity—concerns that NFL teams prioritize when evaluating potential franchise quarterbacks. Once considered a top contender for the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, Sanders slipped to the fifth round, with reports suggesting that teams were underwhelmed by his conduct during the pre-draft process.

Sanders is currently vying for the starting quarterback role in Cleveland, competing against Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel in a four-way battle. As he navigates this critical juncture in his career, incidents like this could further complicate his path to earning the trust of the Browns’ coaching staff and front office.
