ST. LOUIS – Point guard Trey Green, who spent the last two seasons at Xavier, announced his intention to transfer to Saint Louis University to continue his basketball career. It is anticipated that Green will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2025-26 season.
“Trey was someone who when he went into the portal, we immediately put at the top of our priority list,” SLU head coach Josh Schertz said. “Having spent so much time watching him play with Mokan, I knew what a great fit he would be for us. His speed, skill, playmaking and toughness are traits that will allow him to impact this team in a major way.”
From Charlotte, N.C., Green was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team in 2023-24. He played in nine games this past season at Xavier before taking an indefinite leave from the team in early December due to health-related concerns.
As a freshman in 2023-24, Green played in 33 games and averaged 5.6 points. He scored a career-best 23 points to lead Xavier at Providence on Jan. 13, 2024.
Green appeared in nine games last season and scored 5.0 ppg for the Musketeers. In two years overall at Xavier, he appeared in 42 games and averaged 5.5 ppg.
Green was a four-star recruit in 2023 and was ranked 61st by 247Sports.com and No. 55 by ESPN. He spent time at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif., and Link Academy in Branson, Mo. He played for Mokan Elite in the summer of 2022 and was the Peach Jam MVP.
