“mice band” Overlord Danny Dwyer Returns With New Single “THE MOON IS HOLLOW”

LA-via-Missouri artist/producer Danny Dwyer and Instagram account @ClipModeGo have taken the Internet by storm with a talented band of mice, and today, the next chapter in the rodents’ discography is revealed to the world, in the form of Danny’s new single “THE MOON IS HOLLOW!!” Out today via Nettwerk, the acoustic-ballad-turned-DnB-explosion continues the lore that he & ClipModeGo have built out after the viral success of January single “mice band.”

It all began in December, when ClipModeGo discovered a 2022 demo of Danny’s (which would later become “mice band”) and started using the sound for a video series where a band of AI-generated mice interrupt viral videos. The Internet quickly branded this as “Mice Band,” and the trend became so large that Know Your Meme created an explanation page, Pigeons and Planes published a social media post about Danny, and one fan went to great lengths to make a documentary on the song’s origins. After its official release in January, the “mice band” single was added to key Spotify editorials like anti-pop and Fresh Finds and was recently remixed by Turnstile drummer Daniel Fang.

To appease these newly invested fans, Danny and ClipModeGo have worked together to build out a universe for the mice, giving them names (Marvin Cheese, Samuel Swiss, Parmesan Paul) and creating adventurous scenarios that are just as fun to follow as the viral clip interruptions. The “MOON IS HOLLOW” chapter in the lore began all the way back in January, when the song’s intro appeared over a clip of Marvin Cheese playing guitar in his prison cell after his arrest for refusing a breathalyzer test.

In less mousy news, Danny shared his latest EP From the horse’s mouth on January 31, which received key press support from Indie Hourzz, Luna Collective, Aurision, Break the Speaker and more. He also co-produced “Superstar,” the opening song from indie rap duo Paris Texas’ latest EP, alongside frequent collaborator Billy Lemos.
