St. Louis CITY SC signed 2024 eMLS Cup runner-up John “K1John” Mouneer to represent CITY SC in the 2025 eMLS season, pending receipt of his Visa. eMLS is Major League Soccer’s competitive gaming league built around the EA SPORTS FC franchise. The 2025 eMLS schedule soon will be shared by Major League Soccer.
20-year-old K1John, from Cairo, Egypt, is an FGS 2023 (FIFA Global Series) Champion and 2-time eWorld Cup Finalist. In 2024 he ranked Top 16 worldwide in the EAFC25 World Ranking. His impressive resume also includes making the Top 5 in the 2024 FC Pro World Championship (the world championship tournament for EAFC).
This will be CITY SC’s fourth year competing in eMLS. The club took home the eMLS Cup in 2023.
“It is always our goal to win on the pitch as well as on the virtual pitch, and with K1John’s consistent, competitive style of play and strong past results, we are confident he will represent CITY SC well in his quest to win the eMLS Cup,” said Pete Wood, VP of Marketing, St. Louis CITY SC. “We are excited for him to connect with our fans, especially local kids and young adults who follow esports and eMLS.”
“This is a really great time for me as I continue my eMLS career and join St. Louis CITY SC, a club that has made a huge mark on eMLS in just three years,” said K1John. “I am looking forward to wearing CITY SC’s signature CITY Red and crest proudly as I compete for the eMLS Cup and hopefully bring it back to St. Louis!”
CITY SC’s esports programming is presented by University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). K1John also will be engaging with UMSL on additional esports initiatives.
In FY24, EA SPORTS FC delivered the strongest performance in franchise history with 299 million FC players and 8.2 billion hours played.
