The Athletics have agreed to terms with free agent left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland on a one-year, $1.8M contract for the 2025 season, the club announced today.
McFarland spent the entire 2024 season with the A’s after he was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations two days before the start of the season. He led the majors with a career-high 79 games pitched while compiling a 3.81 ERA, .252 opponents batting average and .683 opponents OPS. The 35-year-old left-hander allowed 15-of-66 (22.7%) inherited runners to score, which was the seventh lowest percentage in the majors. McFarland has pitched 12 seasons in the majors, including two with the A’s in 2020 and 2024, and is 26-20 with a 4.10 ERA in 433 career appearances.
