“The English songwriter and producer Sipho revels in drama and desperation, with a voice that regularly leaps between grainy declamation and a tearful falsetto.” – The New York Times

“A voice that can heal souls… SIPHO. is here to challenge perceptions around Black male identity, artistry and creativity with some of the best music that—we promise—you have heard” – Complex

“SIPHO. boasts the kind of voice that likely makes even his voice notes sound epic.” – The FADER

“remarkable songs with a real flair for drama… he wields his [voice] as a powerful and versatile tool, comfortable expressing emotional turmoil as it is wearing a zero-fucks scowl.” – NME

October 27, 2023 – Buzzy, critically-acclaimed UK artist SIPHO. has released his anticipated debut album PRAYERS & PARANOIA via Dirty Hit. PRESS HERE to stream / download. The album features SIPHO.’s recent single “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” with Shae Universe, as well as “SOBER,” “THE CHEMICALS,” and “LOCK IT IN (NO REGRETS).”

SIPHO. has also unveiled the video for new track “PARANOIA,” a sobering, progressive rock led anthem that tackles the current socio-political sentiment in Britain and speaks to those who have turned to conspiracy theories to inform their sense of reality. PRESS HERE to watch the video.

“Obviously we’re post-pandemic but, at the time we wrote it, it felt like we were at the bottom of a mountain, in a way,” shares SIPHO. on the inspiration for the song which he wrote with Eg White (Adele, Florence & The Machine). “We had the ‘partygate’ situation, the start of the cost of living crisis… There was a tension in the air and everyone was being quite weird. We’re living through seriously tough times. It’s all so surreal sometimes.”

“PARANOIA” follows the recent release of singles “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE,” which sees SIPHO. team up with Shae Universe to explore the insecurity of not feeling enough for someone and instead pushing them away, and “SOBER” which unpacks the confident and brash nature of ego while also touching upon its ability to shield vulnerability and foster ignorance. “SOBER” was followed by “THE CHEMICALS,” which fuses rock and gospel to home in on the substances we use to alter our states of mind while trying to make sense of what it means to be human, and “LOCK IT IN (NO REGRETS),” a brash, in your face banger that has SIPHO. embrace his inner outlaw to revel in his own selfish choices.

PRAYERS & PARANOIA is a genre-defying work of art that pieces together the intricacies of being, explores how egotism has come to define the internet generation, and manages to retain hope while coming of age in a complex socio-political climate during a time where disconnecting and filtering out the noise to develop a sense of self is harder than it ever has been before.

The album acts as a refreshingly honest acknowledgment of self-worth, faith, insecurity, and anger, binding together to form an earnest work of art. Outside of the helplessness that paranoia can bring, or the impatience of prayer, PRAYERS & PARANOIA sees SIPHO. filling the voids of uncertainty by moving through each thought and integrating it piece by piece.

PRAYERS & PARANOIA arrives on the heels of SIPHO.’s 2022 EP SHE MIGHT BLEED which established him as a one to watch and received praise from The New York Times, The Guardian, NPR, COMPLEX, NME, The Fader, i-D, Clash, and more as a generational talent filled with integrity and honesty. His debut EP AND GOD SAID… saw SIPHO. reconcile his own relationship with God through a mixture of devotion and skepticism.

The product of an eclectic musical palette, SIPHO. is an artist for the new zeitgeist whose genre-defying output mixes R&B, gospel, jazz, electropop and more – underscoring it all with a voice that COMPLEX said could “heal souls.” An artist firmly rooted in duality, SIPHO. has channeled influences across the years from his early days of listening to rock bands like Paramore, Three Days Grace, Radiohead, and Foo Fighters, to more recent inspirations that include Earl Sweatshirt, Solange, and Frank Ocean, and even funk bands such as Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, and Funkadelic.
